On The Scene at Bass Player Live! 2004
With a crisp fall chill in the air and a deep rumbling in the ears, the inaugural Bass Player Live! took place at midtown Manhattan’s Park Central Hotel on October 16 and 17. The annual event is dedicated to bringing a live version of the magazine to its readers, while also promoting and encouraging the close-knit and rapidly growing bass community. Saturday morning festivities began on the exhibitor’s floor, where over 25 manufacturers—ranging from big companies to smaller craftsmen—displayed their wares to an eager crowd. (1) At 11 am, keynote speaker Will Lee (who, along with fellow New York studio vet Anthony Jackson, would be receiving Bass Player Lifetime Achievement Awards) welcomed attendees in the largest of the upstairs conference rooms, and the event was officially underway. With steady traffic continuing to flow onto the exhibitor’s floor, others headed to the first round of clinics at noon on the conference level.
