The BPL 2007 Recap: Complete post-event coverage with photos as seen in the February 2008 issue of Bass Player can be found here: http://www.bassplayer.com/article/bass-player-live/jan-08/33211
The weekend’s Midtown madness extended to the Meatpacking District, where, on Saturday night, it filled the Highline Ballroom with enthusiasm and bass love as Matt Garrison, the Tony Levin Band, Meshell Ndegeocello and her band, and an all-star group of players—including Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Levin and Leland Sklar—raised up the substructure for the BP LIVE! concert. Of course, absolutely none of this could have happened without the support of our sponsors: Alleva-Coppolo, Ashdown Engineering, Ampeg, Clatter, D’Addario, Dr. Bass Cabs, DR Strings, Elixir Strings, Epifani, ESP Guitars, Five Towns College, Gallien-Krueger, Hartke, Lace Music Products, Mesa Engineering, MTD, MTD Kingston Series, Peavey, Pigtronix, Slap It!, SWR Amplification, Tech 21, and Trace Elliot. These companies not only participate to show off their products to a serious group of bassists, they also show up to because they believe it’s important to be an active supporting member of the bass community, to show their love and support for bass events. How cool is that? Heaps of behind-the-scenes hustling goes into making a weekend like this work, too, and we have to give special thanks to all the artists, staffers, and production folks who helped make it all come together, especially our man in New York, BP Senior Contributing Editor Chris Jisi—the spirit and passion behind so many years of BP events, Marketing Director and tireless make-it-happener Christen McFarland, Music Player New York Advertising Director (and Artist Wrangler Extraordinaire) Grace Newman, and iron-clad production gurus Donny Emerick and Doug Baker. Props also to Steve Bailey, who literally herded the cats for the concert-closing All-Star Jam. Now, if you weren’t able to make BP LIVE! in ’07, don’t stress: We’ll be presenting a full report with insight from the many clinics both in the February 2008 issue as well as online with lots of video. Stay tuned … and we’ll see you at Bass Player LIVE ’08! Photos and more to come in the January and February issues of Bass Player.
