Bass Player at Music Player Live! 2005
By BP Staff |
Ah, autumn in New York. To wistful strolls through Central Park, streetside chestnut roasters, and heartwarming afternoon showers now add Music Player Live!, the season’s newest highlight. Over a weekend in late-October 2005, players, manufacturers, the press, and music fans of all stripes sharedtheir musical passion at Manhattan’s Crowne Plaza hotel and at an incredible bass-heavy concert and award ceremonyin the historic Roseland Ballroom. While the event offered hands-on gear auditions, seminars, masterclasses, and performances for many different instruments, it was particularly well stocked with bass action. Bass PlayerLifetime Achievement Awards went to jazz legend Ron Carter and rock iconoclast Jack Bruce. Seminars from DougWimbish, Gerald Veasley, Ron Carter, T.M. Stevens, Bakithi Kumalo, and many more fed the head, while a bassist-only cocktail party helped everybody cut loose.
